  • Industrial Maintenance Technician Certificate Program – 7 Months
    The Certificate Program was created in response to the energy industry asking for more qualified technicians. Industrial Maintenance Technician training provides the building blocks for basic technical knowledge, terminology, equipment, tools, safety procedures and professionalism needed in the power industry. Upon completing the program, graduates continue to receive training from their employers on their specific company requirements and equipment.
  • Wind Power Technician Certificate Program – 7 Months
    Renewable, environmentally sustainable wind energy is a vital resource and an important industry for our future. That’s why MIAT College of Technology offers a Wind Power Technician program that provides college students the skills they need to be successful in this innovative field. Moving forward, the wind energy business is only going to become more advanced, so MIAT College of Technology is training wind turbine students in the current trends and practices. This program can be completed in as little as 7 months.
  • Energy Technology Degree Program – 16 Months
    If you are thinking about MIAT College of Technology’s Industrial Maintenance Technician program or Wind Power Technician program, consider achieving an associate degree in Energy Technology. The added technical and general education curriculum will round out your training with skills required in more complex positions.

What Employers Look For…

The energy industry is asking for candidates that have a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot with complex equipment. Most technicians in the energy technology industry must be able to work a variety of hours with extensive overtime including holidays and weekends. Technicians must also work in confined or elevated spaces, and be able to keep up with the physical demand of the position. To be selected for an energy technology position, candidates may have to pass psychological tests, complete thorough background checks, pass drug tests and take a written knowledge exam.
