MIAT College of Technology to Host Open House and FAA Inspection Authorization Renewal Workshop at Houston Campus on Friday, March 1

 

HOUSTON, Texas (Feb. 26, 2019) – The Houston campus of MIAT College of Technology will host an open house for prospective students as well as an Inspection Authorization (IA) Renewal Workshop for Federal Aviation Administration-certified maintenance technicians on Friday, March 1. The Houston campus is located approximately 11 miles from Bush Intercontinental Airport at 533 Northpark Central Drive in Houston.

About the Open House

The open house, which begins with tours at 10 a.m. and concludes at 2 p.m., provides prospective students, family members, high school guidance counselors, U.S. military representatives and veterans, employers, and other guests an opportunity to visit MIAT’s “shop floor” and classrooms. Participants also will have the opportunity to speak directly with MIAT faculty, staff, and students.

With morning and evening class schedules to accommodate more students, MIAT offers skills-based certificate programs that can be completed in a few months as well as associate degree programs that can be attained in as few as 24 months. MIAT’s programs include classroom and “hands on” courses focused on aviation maintenance, energy (including wind energy), welding, and heating ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR).

About the IA Renewal Workshop

More than 30 aviation maintenance professionals have registered to attend the Inspection Authorization Renewal Workshop at MIAT as of now. The workshop will begin at 7 a.m. and conclude at 4:30 p.m. The cost to participate ranges from $30 for registration by Feb. 27 to $50 thereafter. The fee includes lunch. The two-year IA certification expires every odd-numbered year (2015, 2017, 2019, etc.) on March 31.

The IA Renewal Workshop is comprised of eight, one-hour courses.  Each hour of training includes 50 minutes of training and a 10-minute break.
