NEW BOSTON, MI--Those looking to start a career or make a career move can learn about the fast-paced, challenging transportation dispatch field during a campus open house at MIAT's Transportation Dispatch Institute Friday, November 20, 2009 in New Boston, Michigan from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. The event is open to the public and no registration is required. Anyone who enjoys multitasking, solving problems, and would like a work setting where no two days are the same is encouraged to attend.

MIAT offers an intensive, 7-month training program that prepares students to work as a dispatch specialist for any organization involved in transportation: Emergency Services and Public Safety, Aviation, Rail, Transit, Public Utilities, Freight/Delivery and other fleet operations. MIAT Graduates and other industry professionals will be on hand to share their experiences.

According to Charles Hawes, President of MIAT, students enroll in the dispatch training program to either begin a career, or enhance their skills for an existing career.

"Many of the Transportation Dispatch Specialists we graduate come into the program with a variety of management skills under their belt. Some are looking to make a career change and others are looking to move into a logistics management position with their current employer", stated Hawes. "Our curriculum develops
the skills to help them perform professionally under very challenging conditions".

Course disciplines include Emergency Procedures, Crisis Management, Human Factors, Transporting Dangerous Goods, Troubleshooting, Regulations, Navigation, Air Traffic Control, Meteorology, Airport Operations, Diversity and Communication.
